Summary
New Instant Whey including native whey is set to change the face of sports nutrition. By using native whey protein isolate in the formula, it provides significant, unique, performance and health benefits. It is unmatched within the market.
Native whey provides significant additional benefits, critically containing up to 166% more bioavailable cystine (two cysteine molecules linked by a disulphide bridge) and up to 16% more L-leucine than other forms of whey protein. L-leucine helps build and repair muscle, whilst cystine is essential in the production of the body’s master antioxidant glutathione which is vital for optimal immune function and therefore recovery after strenuous exercise.
Reflex partnered with one of the world’s newest, most sophisticated and environmentally sound dairies to bring you native whey protein isolate extracted directly from fresh skimmed milk. It is this superior process that is carried out at low temperature via complex ultra and membrane filtration that captures virtually every single highly valuable biologically active protein fraction in its native form.
Just like the previous formula Instant Whey is still one of the only whey protein powders in the world where every finished batch is laboratory tested to ensure that it delivers a market leading 80% level of protein. This is done in accordance with ISO 17025 quality standards and procedures.
Instant Whey contains an improved version of the Reflex renowned Muscle Drive peptide complex. This complex is a precise combination of two muscle building ingredients:
Peptide-bonded glutamine: This is glutamine in a highly absorbable format, especially suited for use in combination with native whey protein where it is utilised more effectively by the body than standard free form L-glutamine, thus helping recovery after strenuous exercise.
Hydrolysed whey protein: Newly formulated with higher levels of whey protein hydrolsate. This is specially selected with a high degree of hydrolysis which is rich in low molecular weight peptides and amino acids. The body can absorb peptides much faster than whole proteins, thus allowing for an almost instantaneous 'hit' of muscle building amino acids.
Added probiotics & digestive enzymes
Another big difference that has always set Instant Whey apart from the competition is the standard inclusion of the very special Digezyme digestive enzyme complex and LactoSpore probiotic spores. Digezyme has been extensively studied and shown to enhance protein digestion, whilst LactoSpore probiotic spores, similar to those found in yoghurt, provide for a healthier gut.
Amazing range of flavours and sizes
New Instant Whey now comes in a huge and improved range of flavours and sizes to suit just about everyone. You will be amazed just how easily they mix and how good they taste. More importantly we hope you’ll notice the significant improvements we have made to this highly acclaimed product.

Great whey but 4.4kg packaging sucks
Matt on 6th December 2011
Reflex Instant Whey is great - Choc Mint is my personal fav (although I do wish they'd bring out some more flavours).
The packaging for the 4.4kg is rubbish though. The plastic zipper seal on my bag has broken after just a couple of weeks. Luckily I saved my old protein tubs, so I can put it in there, but if you hadn't you might have a problem and end up wasting a load if it got damp.

Q & A
- Q. I have used so many tubs of this whey and the first ingredient on the listing i have at home is whey isolate, i think the ingredient listing for this is for the natural whey. anyway i was just wondering how many grams of BCAA's this has per serving? thankyou.
- A.
If you add up the Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine (the BCAAs) that gives you the BCAA total (sometimes it is listed "per serving" and sometimes "per 100g"). Reflex doesn't list the amount but most whey proteins have similar amounts. It should be about 23g per 100g serving (23%). So that's about 6 grams per serving.
- Q. Hi, I have just looked at another site and they are selling 'Tropical Coconut' and 'Fruit Punch' flavour. Will you stock this anytime soon'
- A.
We used to carry these flavours but found that they didn't sell very well at all, so we had to drop them.
- Q. I wondered what would you recommend out of Reflex whey, the Phd whey and the Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard whey I work out 3/4 times a week and am looking for big and fast results. Also if you could suggest the best recovery drink' Thanks
- A.
All are high-quality products and none of them would be expected to yield better gains or recovery. Optimum is a bit expensive and Reflex and PhD are similar price and quality. Most people think the PhD tastes best (especially if you like strawberry or banana).
Best recovery drink is Anator P70 or have a whey shake followed immediately by Cell-Tech. Another great choice is Muscle Fuel Anabolic. All of the above have creatine, which is essential to maximize gains in mass and strength. - Q. How many grams of cholesterol does one serving of this product contain'
- A.
Again, it doesn't list cholesterol but most whey protein products are about 50mg per scoop.
- Q. I am trying to follow a low carb diet and want to have a protein shake as my last meal before i go to bed. However I am not sure whether skimmed milk with natural peanut butter will add to my daily carb intake or if i should just take it with water for less carbs.
- A.
Each cup (250 millilitres) of milk is only 8 grams of protein but 13 grams of carbohydrates. So for best results use water.
For a tried and true moderate carb diet, written by a sports nutrition expert who has worked with some of the world's best bodybuilders and athletes, see the article - http://www.tropicanafitness.com/view/v/article/a/95 - Q. thankyou for your reply do you think my best bet would be ( for price and value)
instant whey + carbo maxx
high protein and high carbs - A.
Yes, this would be a good combo as far as value. The best creatine value is probably the Tropicana brand powdered creatine (it is Creapure brand, micronized and from the premier manufacturer in Germany). For creatine tablets, go with Creadex or Creakic as they have proven ingredientst to ensure better creatine retention in the muscle and they deliver a good-sized serving of creatine.
- Q. which is better this or pharma whey
i would take 5 scoops of this
or
3 scoops of pharma whey
im lookin to maintain weight ive put on from instant mass and bring out some definition also GROW - A.
Both of these products are high-quality whey proteins from reputable companies. I might lean slightly towards the pharma whey. Be careful in trying to "grow" and "bring out some definition". Unless you have freakish genetics, you will have to gain muscle (along with some fat) with a high calorie diet and the other things I've suggested and then keep the protein high and drop the carbs when you decide it's time to get defined. Just make sure you don't lose the weight too quickly when you decide to lose it because that is where you may lose too much muscle. Aim for 1 to 2 kilos per week maximum (you'll always lose the most weight in the first week).
For the best diet to lose primarily fat and maintain maximum muscle, go the the "archives" section of the Tropicana ARTICLES section and click on "The Can't Fail Diet".
